SINGLE DECK SET F1
has been receiving some attention over the last couple of months by
HET volunteers and is about to recommence Heritage operations.
Fully refurbished windows, new lino
flooring and a fully stripped back and repainted roof are some of
the jobs that have been recently been completed.
The train will be
running on Sunday the 15th April, from Cronulla to Sutherland and
return to Cronulla.
For all ticket information please go to the Transport Heritage
web site to book your tickets,

the emergency lights
on throughout the train the cars are receiving a
good internal clean as time and personnel allow. As our
focus is on other sets at the moment, no more work will be done on
these cars for the foreseeable future
and his gang have been making progress with the electrical issues on
the W Set motor cars. C3702 has been completed and work is currently
proceeding on C3708. Double Deck trailer car T4814 has been sanded
back and undercoat painting has started. The work on the gutters of
both motor cars will resume shortly.
The long restoration
project of our little shunting tractor is now complete.
Unfortunately an hydraulic oil leak has been detected during testing
and this will need to be found and repaired, otherwise all that we
need now is to complete the paperwork for the accreditation of the
tractor for use within the confines of the yard.
General maintenance continues as issues arise, a cleanup of
the shed has been done and all of the out of date fire extinguishers
have been rounded up ready for disposal as well as the old batteries
that were in the power cars of F1, which were removed prior to it
being sent to Flemington Maintenance Centre in 2015.
Recently we were able to connect motor car C7485 to our shed
power supply and activate the emergency lighting circuit. As trailer
cars T4279 and T4790 are parked either end of C7485 the oppertunity
was taken to connect these two trailer cars to the motor car and
liven up the lights in the trailers as well! This now allows our
willing bunch of young members the oppertunity to give these cars a
long overdue internal cleanup.
We have also begun a program of connecting all the cars to the shed
air compressor and running brake tests. So far the single deck U
Boat set appears to be in need of most of the attention. Some parts
have been found to be needing repair and we have discovered that
some parts are missing. It appears the missing parts may have been
removed all those years ago to keep the operational cars in service.
Our HO gauge layout, Electric Car Sheds, is now in semi
retirement. Since returning from the Caulfield Exhibition in
Melbourne the layout has been set up. Some fine tuning is still to
be done, but HET must commit to the running of Heritage Set F1, as
well as working on the trains stored at Redfern.
