Paint preperation incling sanding (by hand and using air/electrical tools) and needle gun work on the interior, exterior and car roof of T4554 is continuing well, with preperations for actual paint work being planned, ready to go on the car in 2023. Additionally, crucial repairs to the cars floor and other damaged areas in and on the car will also begin shortly as we aim to have the car ready for service.
Work to test the motors and of the U set cars has been completed succesfully, signalling a milestone in the begining of our restoration works on the train set. Work has also started to rewire lighting, fitout windows and repair other electrical components through all cars. Additionally, removal of grime and marks on the set has been progressing well in preperation for presentation work further down the track in the cars restoration.

Sanding of the exterior of T4554 has been completed with the remainder of the undercoat begining to be applied to the car. Work to prepare the interior of the car for painting and other presentation work is set to begin soon, after much needed floor and small rust repairs are made to the cars interior. Work to needle gun the ageing paint off of the cars roof has also begun.
Further rotational testing of motors on the U set cars has continued allongside cleaning and regreasing of necessary parts in and around the axles. Work to rewire and restore several high and low voltage cables has continued on the set in preperation for the reinstallation of restored switch groups and other electrical components. Additionally, rewiring of components in the crew cabs has been progressing well in preparedness for their electrical and mechanical fitouts/repairs.
